SIASS recognises that young people with SEND are experts in their own lives. As young people move towards adulthood, their priorities, questions and concerns change – particularly around independence, education, employment, and health. We ensure that young people can access information, advice and support that is tailored to them, delivered in a way that feels accessible, respectful and empowering.
The Children and Families Act places young people at the centre of decision‑making, and SIASS is committed to supporting them to understand their rights, have a voice, and make informed choices about their future.

What Our Offer for Young People Looks Like
SIASS encourages Young People with SEND to get in touch with us! This is what we can provide:
- Direct 1:1 support for young people aged 16–25, or younger if appropriate
- Clear, accessible information about SEND processes such as Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), reviews, and transitions
- Support to prepare for and attend meetings, including help expressing views and wishes
- Information on options after school, including college, training, apprenticeships and employment
- Support around independence, including health, housing and understanding adult services
- Flexible ways to engage, such as phone, email, online meetings or face‑to‑face support
Young people can contact SIASS independently, and we will always respect confidentiality while encouraging positive involvement from parents, carers and professionals when appropriate.
Our aim is to help young people feel confident, informed and supported to take an active role in shaping their own outcomes.
