What is SEN?

SEN means Special Educational Needs.

  • It means you may find some things in learning harder than others your age.
  • You might need extra help or different support at school or college.
  • This could be with learning, understanding, communication, or feelings.

    Examples of SEN

You might have SEN if you:

    • Find reading, writing, or maths difficult
    • Find it hard to talk or understand people
    • Find it hard to make or keep friends
    • Get overwhelmed by noise or busy places
    • Need help with focus, memory, or understanding
    • Need support with feelings or behaviour

Everyone is different, and the right support can help you do your best

    All schools and colleges must:

    •  Find out if you have SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities)
    •  Give you the right support
    • Do this even without a diagnosis
